Break in on Fairway Circle
|
|
margaret writes "The following information is from our neighbor whose home was robbed this week. This is a reminder that we need to be diligent and especially those of us that are around during the day, keep your eyes open for suspicious activity.
According to the neighbor, "The address is 1989 Fairway Circle NE. They broke in back door sometime in the afternoon or early evening . There was no alarm system on. Stole flatware, jewelry, easy to carry items. Police came out this am to file a report."
Thanks for sharing with neighborhood! Please be on heightened vigilance as break-ins tend to come in bunches. Never hesitate to call 911 if you suspicious persons or vehicles cruising the neighborhood.

2074 writes "Rasa Organics is a new north Georgia CSA that grows non-GMO, natural produce on a historic farm in Dalton, Georgia. We follow organic growing standards and strive to run a sustainable, innovative, and ecologically flourishing farm.
What is a CSA? CSA means "Community Supported Agriculture." It is a way for you to support your local farmer by investing as a "shareholder" up front in the growing season. This arrangement helps to ease the up front costs for the farmer, which typically ensures a larger, more diverse crop planting and yield. In return, the shareholders receive a bag or box (usually on a weekly basis) of the freshest, in season produce from farmers that they have come to know. Read more on our What We're About page.
Most people choose to receive produce weekly for one or more season. We try to be flexible and can work with you to accomodate every other week pick-ups and week-by-week purchases as well. Please visit link below for pricing and a list of 2010's produce!
Currently, we have a pick up location in Dalton and we also deliver produce to the Brookhaven and Highlands areas of Metro Atlanta. We are happy to serve out local community with vibrant and healthy produce. Please visit our Pick-Up Locations page for more details!

caroline writes "One of our new neighbors on Fairhill lane has lost one of their great danes. I saw her (the owner) walking with the other Great Dane about 45 minutes ago when heading to Kroger and her husband was driving around the neighborhood looking for the dog. Please be on the look out for the dog because the dog is new to the neighborhood and doesn't know his/her way around. As animal person I would be devastated if I lost my wild dog Bailey.
I am sorry to say I don't know the new neighbors names, but Ward (my husband) mentioned that Beth Williams was also driving around looking for the dog so she might know their names. I think they are living at the end of Fairhill lane. I sure hope they find their dog. Thanks for your help.
our number is 404-636-9494 just in case you see the dog and can't figure out where it goes. We will be happy to help. "

2074 writes "Hello Everyone,
I am a Hillsdale resident and a yoga teacher for over 12 years. Are you interested in learning yoga in the comfort of your own home? If so, I'd be more than happy to walk over!
A little about me...
I have spent significant time in ashrams both in the US and India, delved deeply into various yogic traditions and received the blessings of many world-renowned spiritual teachers. In 1999, I became accredited as a teacher through the Integral Yoga International Institute at the 200-hour level, which meets the requirement for Yoga Alliance registration. The practice is holistic, addressing the entire body, physically and energetically. It is meditative with results of a healthy and "ease-ful" body, a profoundly balanced energy and deeply relaxed state of mind. This yoga not only addresses the core of one's body, but also reaches the core of one's life.
I am experienced teaching restorative, beginning, intermediate and advanced hatha yoga classes in university, temple, spa, hotel, chiropractic, health club and yoga studio settings. I also teach private individuals, small groups in their homes and serve as a substitute yoga teacher in Atlanta.
Private rates for 60 min. is $75 and 90 min. is $100.
Would love to hear from you!

Threat from Rains Continues - HillsDaler Lost Car to Tree
|
|
Please remain on alert for ongoing threat from rain and flash flooding in HillsDale and environs. Roadways are dangerous to travel for at least the next 2-3 days with flooded streets, downed trees common. In many cases, downed power lines are involved and can create a very lethal situation. At least DeKalb and Gwinnett School Systems have closed for Tuesday due to these types of threats.
As you can see from the photos below, the threat of falling trees is very real. Our neighbors Ward and Caroline Stuckey lost their Nissan SUV to the thunderous crash of a fallen pine this afternoon. The massive tree crushed their vehicle where it sat in their driveway less than 30 minutes after Caroline and her son exited to the vehicle. While no one was injured, the vehicle is a total loss and the Stuckey's home did have some roof damage. The force of the tree was so great it displaced a section of the driveway beneath the vehicle. Bill Haag, Allan Evans and I secured the roof with flashing and tarp to buy the family some time waiting for insurance, utilities, and emergency response.

margaret writes "The 26th annual National Night Out will be held this Tuesday, August 4th. In Hillsdale, we will gather from 6:30-8:00 in front of 2167 Fairway Circle*. We are asking that everyone come out and visit with your neighbors, show support of the Dekalb county police and enjoy some fabulous desserts provided by Metrotainment bakery (that usually gets people out)! We are also expecting a visit from our Dekalb county police liaison, Officer Kim. It will be another opportunity to put a face with a name and also discuss our concerns with Officer Kim. Look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!
In the event of light rain, we'll gather at my carport, same location. In the event of heavy rain, we'll reschedule.

Just Drive! Cell phone use while driving
|
|
Suzel writes "Larry and I spend a lot of time in our front yard at the corner of Fairway Circle and Brookshire. We are just enraged by the number of people who drive in and out of the neighborhood while talking on their cellphones. Those drivers are putting all of the children and pets in the neighborhood in danger. One of my best friends, Laura Peyton, now has only one leg because a woman talking on her cellphone while parking, drove into Laura. Studies have shown that driving while talking on a cell (whether hands free or not) is more dangerous than driving drunk. Maureen Dowd's editorial earlier this week is worth reading. "
