2074 writes "Rasa Organics is a new north Georgia CSA that grows non-GMO, natural produce on a historic farm in Dalton, Georgia. We follow organic growing standards and strive to run a sustainable, innovative, and ecologically flourishing farm.
What is a CSA? CSA means "Community Supported Agriculture." It is a way for you to support your local farmer by investing as a "shareholder" up front in the growing season. This arrangement helps to ease the up front costs for the farmer, which typically ensures a larger, more diverse crop planting and yield. In return, the shareholders receive a bag or box (usually on a weekly basis) of the freshest, in season produce from farmers that they have come to know. Read more on our What We're About page.
Most people choose to receive produce weekly for one or more season. We try to be flexible and can work with you to accomodate every other week pick-ups and week-by-week purchases as well.
Please visit link below for pricing and a list of 2010's produce!
Currently, we have a pick up location in Dalton and we also deliver produce to the Brookhaven and Highlands areas of Metro Atlanta. We are happy to serve out local community with vibrant and healthy produce. Please visit our Pick-Up Locations page for more details!

Fund Raiser for PAWS Atlanta Shelter
donna writes "If you are not busy Sunday night, November 2 please come help us raise money for PAWS Atlanta no-kill shelter. It should be a fun event. There is going to be a band, food and a pet psychic there. Should be fun. Thanks, Donna Elliott
Dear Friends of PAWS ATLANTA.
In conjunction with PAWS Atlanta, we are hosting a fundraiser, WOOFSTOCK Atlanta, on November 2, 2008 to raise money for an on-site training facility at the PAWS No-Kill Animal Center. This event will be the catalyst for future endeavors, combining the talents of Jabula Dog Academy, and PAWS Atlanta trainers, to create a fun and safe environment for companion animals through obedience training.
The crowning event of the evening will be the adoption of BUTTERS, a PAWS Atlanta dog that has been living and working with Gill and Kate, of Jabula Dog Academy, for the last 4 months. Sealed bids have been taken for Butters adoption, and the proud new “parents” will be announced at the end of the evening. "

Walk for Others Fundraiser - A Few More Hours to Make a Difference!
"I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs." - Frederick Douglass
My wife, my 2 year-old son, and I along with our faithful dog used our legs for prayer early this morning. We joined hundreds of others for this year's 26th Annual Wesley Walk for Others. It was a chilly, windy, and damp 6.2 mile sponsored walk around Stone Mountain to raise funds for the Wesley Community Centers, Inc.
My wife refused to give up the stroller for the entire, cold 6.2 miles. Between the boy and his gear, she pushed about 50 pounds around the mountain today for 2 hours and 20 minutes!
Lucky you! It's not too late to contribute! We are not turning in the funds raised until tomorrow morning, Sunday Oct. 26. We've raised $270 so far - that's nearly enough to send 2 under privileged children to a Wesleyan camp. You can contact us by phone (404-325-9025) to make a cash or check contribution. Or you can contribute online with a credit card below (I'll email you a tax receipt for the fully deductible amount!):
Any amount will be a great help to your community and much appreciated by my family!

Plan Around Major Traffic Slowdowns in Feb/Mar
If you haven't noticed yet, there's a big project going on I-85/I-75 South. To allow for the progression of utility work on the 14th Street Improvement project, it will be necessary to pace traffic on the downtown connector and reduce motorists speeds to 20 miles per hour.
Georgia Power Company will be relocating transmission equipment on the following three weekends beginning at 7:00 am each day: · Saturday, February 23 – Sunday, February 24 · Saturday, March 1 – Sunday, March 2 · Saturday, March 8 – Sunday, March 9
Crews estimate at least 10 pacings per day with each occurrence lasting approximately 15 minutes. The pacings will impact both northbound and southbound travelers at the following corridors: · I-75/85 Northbound: Martin Luther King Jr., Drive to Spring Street · I-75 Southbound: Moores Mill Road to the connector · I-85 Southbound: GA 400 to the connector
Motorists should allow additional travel time and expect significant delays. Georgia DOT recommends travel on interstates 285 and 20 to bypass downtown Atlanta. Motorists are also urged to use extreme caution and reduce speed while traveling through the work zone area as fines are doubled.
Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other construction project on interstates and state routes. Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, such as traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays due to bad weather. Callers can also reach live operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information is available at www.511ga.org.
For general information on the Georgia DOT, please visit their website at www.dot.state.ga.us.

Can't Wait for Spring Cleaning to De-Junk? America Recycles Day '08
Start your new year with recycling! This year Keep DeKalb Beautiful (KDB) is offering DeKalb residents the opportunity to "GO GREEN by RECYCLING" at the end of the holiday season. KDB will be hosting a Christmas tree recycling and electronics recycling event in January.
KDB is partnering with Home Depot and Atlanta Recycling Solutions to offer recycling at local Home Depot sites. On Saturday, January 5th, 2008, from 9am to 4pm, citizens are encouraged to recycle their Christmas trees during our 18th annual "Bring One for the Chipper" event. They will also be able to bring their old electronic items to the Home Depot site for recycling. KDB hopes citizens will "green-up" this winter and begin 2008 with a spirit of environmental stewardship!
